Beyond the Lune Winter Editions is scheduled for Saturday 20 December 2025 at The Royal Barn, Kirkby Lonsdale (LA6 2AB). The event offers trail running routes that run through Kirkby Lonsdale and surrounding parishes including Casterton. All runs start from The Barn, which houses a local brewery and coffee roasters. There is a cut-off time of 1pm for all runs. Under-16s may take part if running with a parent or guardian.

Courses and entry information

  • 5 km - family-friendly route toward Casterton golf club and back along the river; fully signed; hot drink and mince pie at finish.
  • 10 km - uses local footpaths and bridleways around Casterton and Bullpot, returning via Devils Bridge and river path; recommended to be able to self-navigate.
  • 20 km - tour of Brownthwaite Pike/Bullpot and surrounding bridleways with fell and ridge sections; must be able to self-navigate.

Entries open 30 August 2025 and close 15 December 2025. Entry fees are: 20 km £25.00, 10 km £20.00, 5 km £7.50. U10s are free with an adult (maximum two per adult) and their details must be entered. To enter, participants must register or log in with SiEntries. The 10 km and 20 km entries include a GPX file, event merchandise, partial route signing with marshals, a starter pastry and hot drink, and a finishers beer (age dependent). Challenge yourself at the Litton Birks Fell Race in North Yorkshire on 15 November 2025, a tough 5 km senior course with about 362 m ascent on a new 2024 route. Junior races run from U9 to U17 and race HQ is the Queens Arms pub.

Tackle the classic Tour of Pendle, a late season fell race across Pendle Hill and moorland offering 27 km and big climbs for experienced, navigationally confident runners. Scenic but stern, it demands full kit and map skills.

Take on the new Litton Birks fell race in the York Dales, a punchy 5 km with 362 m of climb and rewarding upland views. Pre entry and day entries available and junior races make this a great event for families and club runners.

Run the Arnside Knott Race on Sunday 16 November 2025: a scenic 6 mile fell run above Morecambe Bay and the Kent Estuary with about 1093 ft of ascent. Expect varied underfoot terrain and crisp autumn conditions for a true challenge.
