Beyond the Lune Winter Editions is a trail running event on Saturday 20 December 2025 in Kirkby Lonsdale, starting from The Royal Barn (LA6 2AB). The event offers three route options that use local footpaths, bridleways and river paths and include both on- and off-road sections. Routes pass features such as Casterton, Casterton golf club, Devils Bridge, Mill Brow, Brownthwaite Pike (Bullpot), a trig point and cairn, and river-side paths with views over the Lune Valley and toward the Lake District.
Courses, entries and race details
- 5km : family-oriented route out towards Casterton golf club and back along the river.
- 10km : uses local footpaths and bridleways around Casterton and Bullpot; partial route signing.
- 20km : longer fell and bridleway circuit including Brownthwaite Pike/Bullpot; requires navigation ability.
Entries open 30 August 2025 and close 15 December 2025. Entry fees: 20km £25, 10km £20, 5km £7.50. The 10km is recommended for those able to self-navigate; the 20km requires self-navigation. Under-16s may take part when accompanied by a parent or guardian; U10s can enter free with an adult (maximum two per adult). The 5km route is fully signed. Event inclusions: the 5km offers a Santa hat and a hot drink and mince pie at the finish; the 10km and 20km include a start pastry and hot drink, GPX files, event merchandise, partial signing with marshals, a finisher beer and a seasonal hot food option.
