Beyond the Lune Skyline Ultra

Beyond the Lune Skyline Ultra is a single-loop trail event on 20 June 2026 that starts and finishes in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale (The Royal Barn, LA6 2AB). The route covers 65 km (about 40 miles) with approximately 2000 m of ascent and includes mostly footpaths and bridleways, with around 10 km on tarmac.

Participants must be able to self-navigate the whole loop using a map or GPS unit. The course passes seven summits and several local landmarks and contains technical sections, including a steep final section known as the Radical Steps. Two checkpoints with food and water are provided along the route.

Entry is open from 22 December 2025 until 14 June 2026 and the entry fee is £45. Minimum age is 18 on the event date. Registered participants receive a GPX file of the route and event merchandise may be available subject to stock. Event provisions on the day include a hot pastry and coffee at the start, food and water at checkpoints, and a finishers beer and pizza.

Mandatory kit is checked at registration and includes a rucksack or race vest, trail shoes, waterproof jacket and over-trousers with taped seams, warm hat, gloves, survival bag, map or GPS, compass, whistle, a small first aid kit, water and food. A 5-mile winter fell race from Bleasdale Parish Hall with 1,250 ft of ascent, exposed high ground to 500 m, and mandatory full kit including whistle. Entry was by pre-entry with a 100 runner limit and the event is now full.

Two route options across the Yorkshire Dales from Cracoe Village Hall for walkers and runners, with staffed checkpoints and a finish meal. Entries are limited to 125 and a waiting list operates when the event fills.

A community fell race from Dufton Village Green to High Cup Nick and back, about 15 km with roughly 450 m of ascent. The event raises funds for Dufton Village Hall and includes post-race soup and a roll.

The Cautley race is a low-level fell running event within the Kendal Winter League series. The series starts in January, with races held mostly weekly. Registration is free online, with a fee payable on race day for seniors and juniors.
