Beyond the Lune Skyline Ultra takes place on 20 June 2026 in Kirkby Lonsdale, starting and finishing at The Royal Barn (LA6 2AB). The event is a loop of 65 km (about 40 miles) with 2000 m (about 6500 ft) of ascent. The stated minimum age is 18. Entry opens 22 December 2025 and closes 14 June 2026. The entry fee is £45.

Course and support

The route is mostly on footpaths and bridleways, with about 10 km on tarmac. It passes seven summits and includes a feature called the Radical Steps close to the finish. Participants must be able to self-navigate using a map or GPS unit. There are two checkpoints/feed stations with food and water along the route. Organisers provide a GPX file of the route.

Requirements and what is provided

Mandatory kit is checked at registration and includes a rucksack or race vest, trail shoes, waterproof jacket and overtrousers with taped seams, warm hat, gloves, survival bag, compass, map or GPS device, whistle, and a small first aid kit, plus water and food. Included for entrants are a start pastry and hot drink, event merchandise (availability not guaranteed in the final week), two checkpoints with supplies, a finisher beer and a pizza.
