Beyond the Lune Winter Editions - Christmas Crumble Run
This trail running event is based in Kirkby Lonsdale and starts from The Barn, the tap house of Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery and coffee roasters. It offers two waymarked trail routes that use local footpaths, bridleways and river paths, with on and off road sections through the surrounding parishes.
Both routes leave from the same venue and include local landmarks such as Devils Bridge, river paths and steps close to the finish. The longer route visits Brownthwaite Pike also known as Bullpot and reaches a trig point and cairn with views over the Lune Valley and toward the Lake District; on a clear day Blackpool Tower may be visible. The shorter route is fully marked and marshalled. The longer route is partially signed and requires some self navigation because of potential visibility in variable weather.
Entry requirements and event features include a minimum age of 16 with those aged 16 to 18 required to run with an adult, identical entry fees for the distances, and included items for all entrants such as a free pastry and hot drink at the start, a GPX route file, event merchandise, a finishers beer and a seasonal Christmas Crumble Box.
