Kendal Mountain Festival Trail Runs
The Kendal Mountain Trail Runs take place on Saturday 21 November 2026 from Abbot Hall Social Centre, Dowker's Lane, Kendal (LA9 4DN). The event offers multiple trail distances that use town streets, local fells and surrounding countryside.
Distances and elevation:
- 11.8 km, +267 m elevation
- 25.7 km, +438 m elevation
- 50.1 km, +1069 m elevation
Routes include a mixture of surfaces and features: tarmac, cobbled streets, fells, fields, hard-packed and grassy trails, limestone escarpments, river trails, a deer park and visible local landmarks such as castles. Courses start on closed roads in Kendal town centre and finish at the Kendal Mountain Festival area with Festival-goers present.
Race services include a fully marked course, chip timing with online results, event photography, food and drink provision and a bag drop area. GPS tracking is provided for the 50k.
Participants are asked to bring their own cup to reduce single use cups. Mandatory and recommended kit is specified by distance. Typical required items for the shorter route include a waterproof jacket, 500 ml of water, hat or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX file of the route. For the 25k and 50k additional items include waterproof trousers or leggings, extra warm layers, a mobile phone, approximately 800 calories of food, at least 1 litre of water, a bandage, a foil blanket, gloves and a head torch with spare batteries.
