Beware The Bear Trail Races : Bear Creek Lake Park

Beware The Bear is a trail race event at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, CO on Sun, Oct 25, 2026. The races start and finish at Coyote Crossing near the park pavilion and use mostly dirt single track and double track trails.

Course notes: the 5 km has about 300 feet of climbing and the 15 km about 800 feet. Trails include short steep hills, rollers, steep descents and sections alongside a canal and Morrison Road. Some climbs reach about 15 percent and some descents exceed 15 percent. The 15 km course uses an opening loop then two repeats of a larger loop and has a cut off of 1 hour 15 minutes at the end of the first big loop. All courses will be well marked with a Won't-Get-Lost guarantee.

Entry and event services: registration for the 5 km, 15 km and Double includes running socks or a neck gaiter and a pancake breakfast. The Kids 1 km is not individually timed; there will be a display clock and every child receives a stuffed bear. Parents or older siblings may accompany kids without registering. Volunteers are needed for registration, parking, finish line and aid stations and may be allowed to race for free subject to event needs.
