The Beware The Bear Trail Races are scheduled at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, CO on Sat, Oct 24, 2026 (tentative). The event uses Coyote Crossing and nearby shelters as start and finish areas and lists the park address as 15600 W Morrison Rd.

Distance options:

  • 5 km , mostly dirt single and double track, about 300 ft of climbing
  • 15 km , mostly dirt single and double track, about 800 ft of climbing
  • 5 + 15 Double , run the 5 km then the 15 km with a short break between
  • Kids 1 km , well marked, not individually timed, finishers receive a stuffed bear

The courses follow single and double track trails with short steep hills, rollers, rocky sections, and varied terrain. Courses are well marked and offered with a Won't-Get-Lost guarantee. The 15 km includes an aid station by the finish between laps, and a cut-off of 1 hour 15 minutes at the end of the first big loop, roughly 4.7 miles.

Race registration for the 5 km, 15 km, and Double includes choice of running socks or a neck gaiter and a pancake breakfast. Kids may be accompanied on the 1 km by parents or older siblings without separate registration.
