Courses and route

The long course follows the classic Belmont route through forest and fields, then runs clockwise at the base of the Little Sugar Loaf. The route includes a sharp right halfway around the hill to reach and cross a rocky summit, narrow technical sections, wider trail sections, and a final detour across the mountain bike track to the finish. The rocky summit is described as technical. The short course follows the long course to a turnaround in the field at the foot of the Little Sugar Loaf, then retraces and uses a detour via the MTB track to the finish. The 1 km Belmont Challenge uses the MTB track and is offered as a free fun run with no online entry required.

Logistics and safety

Mandatory Level B kit includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Failure to carry required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification; random checks may be carried out. Registration is at Belmont Demesne beside the café. There is a €3 car park charge collected by card on entry. No headphones are allowed while racing. Prizegiving and refreshments are at the Belmont Demesne Café.
