Bath Two Tunnels Railway Races

The event is organised by Relish Running Races and is based at Brickfields Park, Twerton, Bath (BA2 1LX). The routes use sections of the former Somerset & Dorset Railway and pass through the two named railway tunnels, at times running beside the Kennet & Avon Canal and into central Bath past the Abbey and Pulteney Weir.

Distances available include:

  • 50 km
  • Marathon
  • Half marathon
  • 10 km
  • 5 km
  • 2 km Fun Run
  • 500 m Colourburst Run

Course and logistics details vary by distance. The 10 km and 5 km routes are described as largely on tarmac with a low gradient; the 5 km runs through the 408 m Devonshire Tunnel into Lyncombe Vale. The half and marathon routes include paths through countryside and city sections. Lapping details are published for specific distances.

On-site services listed for participants include a finisher's medal, prizes, timed results, drink stations, fresh fruit and snacks, first aid, toilets, coffee and food vans, and a bag drop at the start. The event notes specific drink station coverage: none on the 5 km course, one on the 10 km, and three to five on the half marathon. Travel options mentioned include the Odd Down Park & Ride with a Two Tunnels shuttle and Oldfield Park train station about 800 m from the venue.

Reviews and logistics notes in the event information mention dark tunnel sections, muddy or slippery parts on some routes, limited toilet availability at times, and generally positive comments about marshals and volunteers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
