Barnyard Squatch 5K
The Barnyard Squatch 5K is the inaugural trail event hosted by Sassquad Trail Running on the nearly 200-acre property of The Barnyard Sanctuary in Blairstown, New Jersey (37 Swayze Mill Rd, 07825) on 10/25/2026. The event takes place on sanctuary land and is presented in support of the sanctuary's work with rescued farm animals.
The course is a 5K route with more than 500 feet of elevation gain. Terrain includes rolling hills, dirt paths, and open pastures. The route is not flat and runs directly past the spacious enclosures of rescued animals, including cows, horses, emus, peacocks, pigs, goats, sheep, and a water buffalo named Tundra.
Regular registration for the 5K opens 8/1/2026 at 09:00 and closes 9/30/2026 at 23:59; the listed registration fee is $35.00. A separate Hardship Entry option is available for participants experiencing financial hardship; that option opens 8/1/2026 at 17:29 and closes 10/24/2026 at 19:00 and carries no fee. Organizers will provide a code after initial hardship registration so applicants can request a full or partial scholarship. Community donations to the Squatch Community Fund are also invited.
One hundred percent of donations raised through the event will go directly to The Barnyard Sanctuary to support rescue and animal care. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
