The Badwater Cape Fear takes place on Bald Head Island in North Carolina. It is the twelfth edition of this Badwater event on the East Coast.

Distances

The event offers two ultra-distance options:

Course Details

The race starts at the foot of the Old Baldy Lighthouse. The route begins with a twelve-mile section on the car-free roads and maritime forest trails of Bald Head Island.

Following this, the course transitions to a run on a sandy beach between Cape Fear and Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. The 50km distance includes 19 miles on the beach, while the 51-mile distance includes 39 miles on the beach. This stretch offers views of the Atlantic Ocean, Frying Pan Shoals, and the marshlands of the Cape Fear River.

Policies

Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. A 50% credit for the following year's event may be available if a participant withdraws at least 60 days prior to the race.
