Badger Challenge : Beacon Hill Country Park
The Badger Challenge is a six-hour off-road running event at Beacon Hill Country Park (Lower Car Park, LE12 8TA) on 27 February 2026. Participants run repeated laps of a 3.3 mile loop and may complete any number of laps within the six-hour time limit. Distances include:
- 3.3 mile loop
- 4 laps = half marathon
- 8 laps = marathon
- Over 50 miles possible within six hours
Course, entry and logistics
The route climbs for the first half of the lap and descends for the second. It follows well maintained crushed-stone paths from the lower car park toward a trig point (the trig point is not on the marked route). Underfoot is generally decent but can be mucky depending on weather; the surface is not classed as technical. A GPX file is available from Plotaroute.
Dogs are permitted and canicross entries are included at the event with short leads requested. Rucking is allowed. Parking at Beacon Hill is charged at £3 for under three hours or £4 for the day (card or coin accepted). The nearest train station is Loughborough, about 6 miles away. Entry fees follow a tiered system (listed dates in the event text); unaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. There is an optional fundraising partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
