Badger Challenge
Loughborough, United Kingdom • 27 Feb 2026
Event overview
The Badger Challenge takes place at Beacon Hill Country Park, Lower Car Park, Leicestershire (LE12 8TA) on 27 February 2026. It is organised as a six-hour event in which participants complete as many laps as they wish of a set off-road loop. The lap length is 3.3 miles, and the event notes that a half marathon requires four laps and a marathon eight laps.
Course and logistics
The route climbs from the lower car park on well maintained crushed stone pathways for the first half of the lap and descends on the second half. The trig point is near the top but is not on the official route. Underfoot is generally decent but can be mucky depending on weather; the course is described as not technical. Parking at Beacon Hill Country Park is charged at £3 for under three hours or £4 for the day, payable by card or coin. The nearest train station is Loughborough, about six miles away. A GPX file for the route is available.
Additional information
Dogs are allowed and canicross entries are welcomed with short leads and considerate behaviour requested. Rucking is explicitly permitted. The event has a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and offers medal or tree-token options; the tree token includes wildflower seeds and a tree is planted for each token issued. Entry pricing noted in the source is tiered: before 23/01/2025 £37, after 23/01/2025 £42, with unaffiliated entrants paying £2 extra. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
