Badger Challenge
The Badger Challenge is a six hour off‑road event held at Beacon Hill Country Park, LE12 8TA, starting and finishing at the lower car park. The course is a 3.3 mile loop that climbs from the lower car park along well maintained crushed stone paths toward the trig point and then descends back to the start. The trig point is not on the route but is nearby for those who want the extra distance.
Runners, hikers and walkers may complete as many laps as they wish within the six hour time limit. The organisers note that a half marathon equals four laps and a marathon equals eight laps on this course. Underfoot is generally decent but may be mucky depending on weather; the route is described as tough but not technical.
Dogs are permitted for canicross provided leads are kept short and other participants are respected; canicross runners may start with the main field depending on numbers and must enter the canicross category. Rucking is allowed. A GPX file of the route is available from the organiser.
Additional practical details: parking at the venue costs between £2.50 and £5.50 and can be paid by card or coin. Entry fees follow a tiered structure and there are options for a medal or for a tree token that contributes to tree planting and contains wildflower seeds. The event has run since 2022 and received a Gold Racecheck award in 2024. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
