Rasselbock Backyard Ultra - Hardwick Hall 2026

Rasselbock Running stages a Backyard Ultra at Hardwick Hall Estate on Saturday 5 September 2026. The event uses a single loop that runs through estate trails and farmland inside the footprint of the hall. The preliminary route is at least 4.16 miles (6.71 km) with mixed underfoot surfaces including natural woodland, farmland tracks and a small amount of tarmac. The route may be adjusted to meet the estate's requirements but will remain of the same length and character.

The Backyard Ultra format is last person standing. Competitors must begin a new lap on the hour, every hour, and complete each lap within that hour. Runners must be inside the starting corral when the lap begins and may not receive personal assistance while on a lap. The event rules also prohibit artificial aids and non competitors on the course.

On site there will be a small aid station with hot and cold water, squash, cola, fruit, sweets and cake. Dedicated first aiders will be present for the duration of the event and there will be an area for support crews and tents. Entry includes a bespoke backyard memento and there are trophies for winners and for the furthest male and female. The 2025 Hardwick event sold 190 places and had over 200 on the wait list.
