Rasselbock Backyard Ultra at Hardwick Hall Estate

The Rasselbock Backyard Ultra at Hardwick Hall Estate is a last person standing looped race scheduled for September 2026. It is the organiser's eighth Backyard Ultra and will be based in the footprint of Hardwick Hall, with laps run around the estate and farmland.

Competitors run the same loop every hour and continue until only one runner remains able to start the next lap. Each loop is a minimum of 4.16 miles (6.71 km) and must be completed within the hour to count. Runners must be inside the starting corral when the bell rings or they will receive a DNF. Warnings are given in the final minutes before each lap and assistance is permitted only between finishing a lap and entering the corral for the next lap. No personal aid may be handed to a runner once a lap has begun and artificial aids are not allowed.

The route runs through a mix of estate trails and farmland with natural woodland, farm tracks and a small amount of tarmac underfoot. The course may be adjusted to meet the venue requirements but will remain the same length and general character. The event includes a small aid station offering hot and cold water, squash, cola, sweets, fruit and cake, dedicated first aid cover, space for support crews and a bespoke backyard memento. Entry was listed at £115 and the event is shown as sold out with a wait list. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
