Bachelor Summit Trailfest
The Bachelor Summit Trailfest is an alpine running event held on the slopes of Mount Bachelor in the Central Oregon Cascades. The races take place across rugged high-elevation terrain and runnable lower sections, highlighting the volcanic landscapes of the region. The event headquarters and start/finish areas are located at the West Village Lodge and the Pine Marten Lodge, situated 1,400 feet above the base.
The event features several trail running options over two days:
- 24 Hour, 12 Hour, and 6 Hour Summit Loops: Timed races on a 4.77 mile loop with 1,785 feet of elevation gain per lap.
- Summit Vista 16K: A 10.11 mile loop that reaches the mountain summit with 2,714 feet of total ascent.
- Cloudchaser 12K: A 7.38 mile course with 1,404 feet of elevation gain focusing on the Cloudchaser Cutoff.
- Red Road Hill Dash: A 2.29 mile uphill-only race with 1,364 feet of vertical gain, finishing at Pine Marten Lodge.
The timed Saturday events utilize the Pine Marten Lodge as a hub, which includes a sleep station and indoor facilities. Sunday races primarily start and finish at the West Village Lodge. Registration includes the use of the Pine Marten Chairlift for participants to travel between the base and the upper lodge.
The courses are serviced by fully stocked aid stations. Parking and RV camping are available at the West Village Lodge parking area, with additional camping options located in the surrounding Deschutes National Forest and the city of Bend.
