Baby Shippey

Baby Shippey is a summer trail running event held on the Beaumont scouting property. The event offers two distances and emphasizes rugged, technical terrain rather than a smooth trail run. The course includes large rocks and boulders that may require the use of hands for short scrambles, off-camber primitive trail sections, narrow switchbacks with loose gravel, and stretches beneath powerlines.

The route mixes fast jeep roads and ATV or gravel paths with several steep climbs and steep descents that produce substantial elevation gain. Organizers describe the half route as featuring two powerline sections and a narrow gravel switchback. Aid stations are provided on each course at the listed mileages.

Distances and basic specs:

  • Half: 13.05 mi, approx 2390' elevation, two aid stations (3 mi, 8.2 mi)
  • 10k: 6 mi, approx 1,100' elevation, one aid station (3 mi)

The event is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, June 6, 2027. Entry is limited to the first 150 runners. The event materials refer to course sections and race branding using the phrase "This is B.S." to describe the demanding nature of the terrain.
