ASF 5K

Hoover, United States • 7 Mar 2026

Event Overview

The ASF 5K, officially called the ASF 5.56K Run, takes place in Hoover, Alabama. The event supports the Alabama SWAT Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by current SWAT officers.

Course Details

The route is a 5.56 km partial trail course. It starts and finishes at Brocks Gap Brewing Company, looping around the Black Creek Mountain Bike Park. Participants should note that the course includes trail sections. A headlamp or flashlight is required as it is a nighttime trail run.

Participation and Divisions

The race is limited to 300 runners and is open to participants aged 10 and older. It is held rain or shine. There are five event divisions:

  • Team Heavy (4 people, each with their own 35 lb. ruck/vest)
  • Male Light (no ruck)
  • Female Light (no ruck)
  • Female Heavy (35 lb. ruck/vest)
  • Male Heavy (35 lb. ruck/vest)

For the Heavy and Team Heavy divisions, all vests and rucks will be weighed after the race; failure to meet the 35 lb. requirement disqualifies a participant from awards. Team members must finish together.

Amenities and Logistics

Parking is at Hoover Met only, with a path and stairs leading to the brewery. Restrooms are available at the brewery and start line, and there is one water station at the trail entrance. Bib and bag pick-up is available the night before at Brocks Gap Brewery and on race day. Bag check is provided during the event.

Registration

Registration includes a t-shirt, finisher medal, and koozie for the first 300 entrants. Strollers are not permitted on the course due to the trail sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
