Sinister Night Runs
Sinister Night Runs is a night trail running event at San Tan Mountain Regional Park in Queen Creek, Arizona. It is part of the 2026 Insomniac Series and takes place on a 9 km loop of the San Tan, Hedgehog and Littleleaf Trails, with desert terrain and saguaro cactus under a starlit sky.
Distances offered:
- 54K - six 9 km loops (34.3 miles)
- 27K - three 9 km loops
- 18K - two 9 km loops
- 9K - single 9 km loop
- 6K - single lap using Littleleaf, San Tan, and a Moonlight cutback
Each loop passes a remote aid station called San Tan Aid. The main aid station is stocked with water, ice, electrolyte drinks, salty and sweet snacks, fruit, pb&j, bean rollups and hot food such as quesadillas and grilled cheese. Crews are allowed at the start/finish and drop bag storage is provided there. Pacers are permitted only for 54K runners beginning on loop five.
Medical staff from MedStar Solutions will be based at the start/finish headquarters and organizers reserve the right to remove runners for medical reasons. The park charges a vehicle entry fee and camping is not permitted. Pets are not allowed on course and must be leashed when at the event. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own cup or purchase a reusable cup. Race features include chip timing, finish line photos, race goody items, finisher awards and podium places for top three men and women.
