Drew's Angel Creek 50
Drew's Angel Creek 50 is a pair of point-to-point trail races near Fairbanks, Alaska. The event features two distances:
- 50 Miler
- 50K
The 50 mile starts at Twin Bears Camp (Mile 30 Chena Hot Springs Rd) and finishes at Chena Hot Springs Resort (Mile 56.5 Chena Hot Springs Rd). The 50K starts at the Angel Rocks Trailhead parking lot and joins the 50 mile course before the same finish. The course surface is roughly a 50/50 mix of hard-packed trail with good footing and technical sections along ridge lines. The route is road accessible only at the start locations, the Angel Rocks Trailhead, and the finish.
Logistics include shuttle service from Chena Hot Springs Resort to the start areas. Drop bags for the 50-mile race are available at checkpoints located at miles 30 and 42, and at the finish. Drop bags for the 50K can be left at the 50K start line, which also serves as the 37K / 23 mile checkpoint. Elevation change is listed as 12,600 ft gain and 12,000 ft loss for the 50 mile, and 6,400 ft gain and 6,200 ft loss for the 50K. Chena Hot Springs Resort, the race finish, is at approximately 1,300 ft elevation. A post-race barbecue is scheduled at the finish location.
