The Amicalola Falls Marathon offers both a full marathon and a half marathon held inside Amicalola Falls State Park near Dawsonville, Georgia. The park features trails through forest, along creeks, and overlooks of the 729 foot Amicalola Falls. Routes combine singletrack and gravel or paved sections, with the course listed as 83% singletrack and 17% gravel or paved.

Course details note repeated climbs on the Appalachian Approach Trail, including ascent of the 605 steps in front of the falls. Elevation change is substantial with about 6,400 feet of total gain and loss on the full course and about 3,200 feet on the half course. The route is marked with flags and signs and includes two fully stocked aid stations that provide food, drinks, and medical support. Professional timing and race media coverage are provided, with race photos and videos made available to participants after the event. Finishers receive a medal and there is race apparel as part of the entry. Awards are given by overall, masters, and age group categories with top three placements in each class.
