Amicalola Falls Marathon

Dawsonville, United States • 5 Dec 2026

Distances

The event features two distances:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon

Course & Route

The races take place within Amicalola Falls State Park. The full marathon consists of two 13.1-mile loops. A notable feature of the course is that runners climb the 605 steps of the Appalachian Approach Trail in front of Amicalola Falls twice during the marathon. The route uses park trails. The course is 83% singletrack trail and 17% gravel or paved surface. The half marathon course has approximately 3,200 feet of elevation gain and loss, while the full marathon has approximately 6,400 feet.

Logistics & Services

The event has a 7-hour time limit for both distances. Two fully stocked aid stations are provided on the course. The route is marked with signs and flagging. Participants receive a finisher medal and a race shirt or hat. Professional timing services are used, and free race photos and videos are provided after the event.

Awards

Awards are given for the Overall and Masters categories, as well as for age groups (25 and under, 26-49, 50 and up). The first-place overall male and female winners in both the marathon and half marathon receive a free entry for the following year's event.
