The Alf Shrubb Memorial is a fundraising running event in Slinfold, West Sussex, with adult and children's races. The adult races are mixed trail events that start in Slinfold and run on local footpaths, bridleways and trails through West Sussex countryside. The 10k uses two slightly different laps and finishes at Slinfold Cricket Club. The 5k is a single loop on the same course. Adult races will be chip timed. The organiser plans for the start line to be led by the local fire brigade if circumstances permit. Slinfold Cricket Club is the event HQ for number collection and the children’s races, and a warm up will be run before the main race.
Practical information and awards
Refreshments will include tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes, and the cricket club bar will be open. Facilities include ladies-only toilets. Free parking will be available with details issued before the event. All profits are shared across local Slinfold village causes. All adult race finishers receive a medal; there will also be individual age-group awards and prizes for the top male and female Slinfold residents. A pair of Alf Shrubb running shoes will be on display at the cricket club on the day.
