The Alf Shrubb Memorial is scheduled for 13 September 2026 in Slinfold, West Sussex. It is a mixed trail running event with adult and children’s races. The adult races are chip timed. Profits will be shared across local Slinfold village causes.

Races and entries

  • 10k - two slightly different laps on local footpaths, bridleways and trails.
  • 5k - single loop on the same course.
    There are two children’s races for ages 5-7 and 8-11. The 5k is open to entrants aged 12 and over; the 10k is open to entrants aged 16 and over. Entry fees listed range from £3.00 to £21.50.

Course, facilities and awards

The event starts and finishes at Slinfold Cricket Club, which is the event HQ and the collection point for race numbers. Children’s races take place at the cricket club; the 10k start is on Clapgate Lane and the 5k is planned to start on the cricket field. Refreshments including tea, coffee, soft drinks, cakes and a fully licensed bar will be available. The event plans to have the local fire brigade lead the start, subject to circumstances. All adult race finishers receive a replica world record medal. A pair of Alf Shrubb running shoes from Horsham Museum will be on display at the cricket club on the day.
