Alamo City Ultra overview

Alamo City Ultra is a trail event held at Eisenhower Park in San Antonio, Texas. The event offers four distances: 50K, 25K, 10K, and 5K, with a maximum field of 400 runners. The course runs primarily on natural trails with many rocks and roots, includes about 425 feet of elevation, and parts of the route use the greenway trail toward the finish area.

The race uses looped formats for the distances and provides full aid stations on course. Aid station placement and service include:

  • 50K route and 25K route use two full aid stations per loop.
  • 10K has an aid station at the finish area.

Aid stations are stocked with drinks and electrolytes, a selection of sodas, sweets and salty snacks, sandwiches and warm foods, fruits, and basic medical supplies. No cups are provided at aid stations; participants are expected to use reusable cups, bottles, or hydration packs. A designated area at the main aid station is available for drop bags.

Ruck division rules specify minimum ruck weights without consumables: participants under 150 pounds must carry at least 20 pounds; participants over 150 pounds must carry at least 30 pounds. The event enforces a 12 hour overall cutoff. Once a race begins, the entered distance must be finished to receive the finisher award; dropping to a different distance during the race results in a DNF. Volunteer roles typically run 4 to 8 hours; volunteers receive park entry, a camping area, race merchandise, and a meal. Parking for participants is at Eisenhower Park.
