Sikome Lake 5 Peaks Trail Running : Event overview

The Sikome Lake event is the first race in the 5 Peaks Trail Running Series for Central Alberta, held at Sikome Lake in Fish Creek Provincial Park, south Calgary. The event offers multiple distances:

  • 1 km Kids Challenge
  • 3 km Kids timed event
  • 5.9 km Sport (run or hike)
  • 10.7 km Enduro (run or hike)

Maps for each distance include elevation gain and loss and aid station locations. The event is cup-free; water and electrolyte drink will be available at the start/finish and at one or more aid stations on course. Participants planning to be out for longer than an hour are asked to carry a receptacle for liquids and calories.

Practical information

Packet pick up is available at an off-site location (Strides, Canyon Meadows Drive SE) and at Sikome Lake on race day. Washroom facilities and spectator areas are available at the start/finish area. Parking is available at Sikome Lake. Safety rules for the course specify no dogs, no headphones, no strollers or baby joggers, and no hiking poles except in non-competitive hiking categories.

Awards: medals will be given to the top three finishers in each gender in each age category and to the top three male and female finishers overall; an awards ceremony will follow result verification. Swag and finisher medals are not included with registration but can be purchased separately and must be picked up at the event.
