3 Marathons in 3 Days - Kuranda

Kuranda, Australia • 9-11 Jul 2026

3 Marathons in 3 Days : event overview

The event consists of three marathon-distance trail races held on consecutive days in July 2025. The courses use a variety of terrain around Cairns, with finish locations including Crystal Cascades, Copperlode Dam and Goomboora Park. One marathon starts near the corner of Clohesy River Road and Cedar Park Road in Koah.

Routes include steep sections, overgrown single tracks and technical trail features. Competitors should expect obstacles such as fallen trees, washed-out sections, snakes and orb spiders. Signage on course will be minimal; participants are required to carry course maps on their phone or paper, use GPS tracks or an app that supports GPX upload, and not rely on distance alone for pace planning.

Water is available only at checkpoints and in limited locations; if runners intend to use creek water they must carry their own purification method. On one day water will be placed along Lake Morris Road at roughly three-kilometre intervals.

Mandatory equipment includes approved compression bandages (specified sizes), a race bib, a whistle, a hydration system with at least 2 litres capacity, sufficient nutrition for each day and maps or GPX files. Transport is provided from some finish lines to start lines for selected races; there is no transport provided for one of the marathons, and competitors are responsible for their own travel after each race.

A race briefing video and competitor information documents are available for participants. Some shorter races previously held with this event have been discontinued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
