1/2 Sauer 1/2 Kraut - Pennypack Park, Philadelphia

This event offers a summer road race with start and finish at the Ed Kelly Amphitheater in Pennypack Park and a post race party at the same location featuring German-themed entertainment, food and a non alcoholic beer included with entry. The event includes both a half marathon and a full marathon and uses a disposable chip timing system with mile markers.

The course follows the paved Pennypack Creek bike path inside Pennypack Park. It is mostly shaded and car free, with a midsection of short, steep rolling hills and a short trail section. The full course is served by up to 13 aid stations; the half has 6. Gels are available at mile 8 and mile 21. Gatorade and water are provided at fluid stations. Medical support includes an EMT ambulance on site and support bikers on course.

Time limit for both the full and half is 6 hours 30 minutes; walkers are welcome for the half but the marathon is not recommended for walkers. Every finisher in both distances receives a finisher medal. Overall male and female winners receive a cuckoo clock and age group awards are supplied for 10 year divisions starting at 14. A high quality long sleeve 1/4 zip performance top is guaranteed for preregistered runners.

Fees are listed for early and late registration and registration closes in the days before the race. Refunds are available until 30 days before the event minus a $10 fee; after that refunds are not offered but bib transfers are permitted until five days before the race.
