Course, support and awards

The course follows the paved bike path along Pennypack Creek inside Pennypack Park. It is mostly shaded and mostly flat, with a midsection that includes short steep rolling hills and a trail section. There is no vehicle traffic on the course. The event is supported by multiple aid stations - 13 for the full and 6 for the half - providing water and Gatorade; gels are available at Miles 8 and 21. Timing uses a disposable chip system and mile markers are placed along the route. The time limit is 6 hours 30 minutes for both distances; walkers are welcome for the half but the marathon is not recommended for walkers. Medical support includes an on-site EMT ambulance and course support bikers. Post-race festivities at the amphitheater include German-themed entertainment, a popup beergarden, and a post-race snack with a non-alcoholic beer and bratwurst included; all finishers receive a finisher medal.
