Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run, Shotley Bridge
The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run takes place on Sunday 18 October 2026 in Shotley Bridge, near Consett, County Durham. The 2026 edition is the final running of this event under its current name; a new ultra event is planned from 2027.
The course passes moorland ridges, woodland trails, reservoir shores and gorge footpaths. It includes sections on the Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way and uses public footpaths and minor roads through local villages.
Distances
- 25 km Trail Run follows the Ultra route to Rowley Station then descends beside the A68 to Allensford Park
- 53 km Ultra Trail Run circular route from Shotley Bridge via Derwent Walk, Waskerley Way and multiple reservoirs
The 53 km race has three feed stations and the 25 km race has one. Feed stations are stocked with VOOM Nutrition Pocket Rockets, VOOM Hydration and a variety of sweet and savoury snacks. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North.
For safety, 53 km runners must carry a backpack with fluids, a charged mobile phone with ICE contacts, food or gels, a lightweight jacket and a headtorch if finishing after dark. Finishers receive an event medal, an event t shirt and postrace drinks and snacks. Free car parking is available at Shotley Bridge Hospital and Surgery.
