Wild Hare Trail Race
Wild Hare Trail Race is held at Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda, Texas. The event offers multiple trail distances on a roughly 7.8 mile loop and includes camping and some RV sites on the ranch property. Closest towns listed include Giddings, La Grange, Bastrop, and Brenham; nearby major cities include Austin, San Antonio, College Station, and Houston.
Distances:
- 50 miles: modified first lap then five full 7.8 mile laps
- 50K: four full loops
- 25K: two full loops
- 10K: one loop with a short cut
- Youth 1 mile: untimed youth race with bib and finisher medal
The loop mixes a mountain-bike style rollercoaster of twists and turns, open fast fields, and climbs and descents over the bluff. The course uses extensive markings: orange caution tape, yellow arrow signs, confidence markers, and reflective markers for low light. Bathrooms and showers are available at the start area. Aid stations are located at the Start/Finish and at a Midway Aid Station 3.5 miles into the lap; the midway station sits in the cattle chute near the parking and race hub.
This is a cupless event; runners must bring their own cup or bottle. Collapsible cups are available for purchase onsite for cash or Venmo. Chip timing is used with ankle-mounted chips. Drop bag service is not provided, but participants may place bags at designated fence or yard areas. Pacers and overall award categories have specific rules and registration requirements.
