Rise in the Pines : Rocky Hill Ranch, Smithville TX
Rise in the Pines is a looped trail event held at Rocky Hill Ranch in Smithville, TX (578 FM 153). The course uses a 10K loop through pine forest with single-track sections, small hills, and some shade. Each 10K loop includes about 650 feet of climbing.
Distances offered include:
- 200K (20 loops)
- 100M (16 loops)
- 100K (10 loops)
- 50K (5 loops)
- 30K (3 loops)
- 10K (1 loop)
- 100M and 100K relays based on five person teams
Aid and logistics: there are two full aid stations and a water-only station on the loop, with portable toilets at several points. Aid stations provide drinks, sodas, sweet and salty foods, PB&Js and heartier evening foods, basic medical supplies without NSAIDs, and feminine care items. The race operates cupless aid stations so runners should bring reusable bottles or hydration packs. A main drop bag area is provided and drop bags are transported to approximately mile 3.
Race policies include a 500 runner cap, an overall event cutoff at 36 hours with no new loops allowed after 34 hours, and no distance downgrades once a race has started if a finisher award is required. Pacers are permitted for longer distances after roughly half the distance or at night. Race swag and finisher awards vary by distance, including shirts, hoodies, medals, and buckles.
