Stub Stewart Trail Challenge
The Stub Stewart Trail Challenge takes place at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in Buxton, Oregon, on April 25, 2027. The event uses a single 6.5 mile loop that runners may repeat to reach their chosen distance. The park is described as being less than 45 minutes from Portland.
Participants register for the event and decide their distance on race day; official results reflect the distance completed. Distances offered include:
- Quarter Marathon
- Half Marathon
- Three-Quarter Marathon
- Marathon
Each loop passes through Pacific Northwest forests, follows the paved Banks-Vernonia State Trail in sections, and moves over gravel roads and winding forest trails with rolling terrain and short, steep climbs. The route mixes paved and unpaved surfaces so laps offer changes in scenery and footing.
The starting line is at the Hilltop Day-Use Area and packet pick-up is at the Hilltop Day-Use Area Shelter. Entry pricing listed for the event is Early Registration $69, After February 1, 2026 $89, and Race Day Registration $100. Top male and female finishers in every distance receive Bivouac Golden Trucker Hats as awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
