Savannah SSOD (Stone Stairs of Death) Race
The Savannah SSOD Race is a charity timed event in Savannah, GA held on October 11, 2026. The event offers two time-based race options: 1 hour and 2 hours. The course uses a 1/3 mile loop that includes paved road, cobblestone, and uneven stone stairs. Chip timing is used with ankle chips.
The course begins midway on the stairs ascending the stone stair section, proceeds with a right onto Williamson Street, a right onto MLK Boulevard, a right onto River Street, then returns up the stone stairs and repeats. Runners ascend the stair section; the course does not include running down those stairs.
All registration fees, after event costs, and donations from the event are directed to a family facing medical expenses. The event is hosted by Rough Runners R4R INC. Male and female overall awards will be given for both race durations.
The event description notes a 2026 recipient who previously had cancer and later received a stage 4 diagnosis with metastasis; treatments were exhausted and the focus shifted to comfort care.
