About the race

The event is the Pretty Muddy 5k at Hylands Park in Chelmsford on 18 July 2027. The course is fully contained within the grounds of Hylands Park, with the start and finish on grass and sections that have slight inclines and undulating areas. In wet weather the ground may become soft. The route includes obstacle elements where participants climb, crawl and slide.

Wave starts are staggered every 15 minutes. Participants must be at least 13 years old; separate Pretty Muddy Kids events are available for children aged 12 and under. Meeting and venue details note the start line is on the open grass area behind Flint Cottage and the finish line is opposite that area. Blue Badge parking is available approximately 100 metres from the event site on tarmac.

A free event car park is accessed via Greenbury Way. A designated drop off zone is provided and stewards will manage traffic. First Bus service 351 stops outside Hylands Park and Chelmsford rail station is about 3.5 miles away.

There are roughly 20 cycle spaces in the main car park. There are no electric vehicle charging points at the event. Available facilities include refreshments, toilets and parking. The site is not wheelchair accessible, is not suitable for pushchairs, and dogs are not allowed.

Registered participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support and a finishers medal. The event is organised by Cancer Research UK.
