Rewild: A Last Runner Standing Event
Rewild is a lap-based Last Runner Standing running event held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville, North Carolina (4431 Neck Rd.). The event runs on a compact loop of about 1.75 miles with roughly 90 feet of elevation gain per lap. The course uses trails, gravel roads, and open rolling fields near Charlotte, NC.
All participants start each lap together. Laps begin at set time intervals with a diminishing clock. A runner who does not begin a lap within the first 20 seconds is eliminated. Runners who fail to complete a lap within the time limit are also eliminated. Faster runners receive more rest before the next lap. The race continues until one runner remains; if no one finishes the final lap, the winner is the runner who completed the previous lap the fastest.
Event logistics include free parking, on-site corn maze and food trucks available for a typical $10 donation per person, and limited registration capped at the first 150 entrants. Participants must be fully self-sufficient for shade, seating, extra nutrition, and lighting. An aid station at Race HQ provides water, electrolyte drink, snacks, and basic foods. The event collects used apparel, sneakers, and medals for recycling and directs additional registration donations to Historic Rural Hill.
