Rewild: Last Runner Standing Event

Rewild is a lap-based Last Runner Standing running event held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Historic Rural Hill, a venue minutes north of Charlotte, NC. The course is a compact loop of about 1.75 miles that traverses trails, gravel roads, rolling livestock fields and open terrain, with roughly 100 feet of elevation gain per lap. The event is limited to the first 150 registrants and lists Historic Rural Hill as its beneficiary.

The format is elimination-style. All participants start each lap together; laps begin at set time intervals with a shrinking clock. Any runner who does not begin a lap within the first 20 seconds or who does not complete a lap within the allotted time is removed. Faster runners gain longer rest before the next lap. The race continues until one runner remains; if no one completes the final lap the tie breaker awards the win to the runner who completed the most recent lap the fastest.

Race HQ is near the loop start and finish and separate from parking. Free parking is available but limited. Participants are expected to be self-sufficient; an aid station will provide water, Tailwind, soda, bananas, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pretzels and chips. Friends and family may crew at Race HQ. Pacers are not allowed once ten runners remain. Two portable toilets will be on site.

Registrants receive a custom HPM Sun Hoodie made from eco-friendly materials, a souvenir bib, two beverages for those 21 and over, and opportunities for escalating prizes at set distances, including:

  • 13.1 mi
  • 26.2 mi
  • 35 mi
  • 50 mi

The event includes eco initiatives: textile, shoe and medal recycling programs, a cup free policy since 2024, and a safety-pin free policy since 2025. Access to the on-site corn maze and food trucks is available for a donation per person. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
