Prisoner of War Trail Race
The event takes place at Croft State Park in Spartanburg, SC, using figure-eight loops across roughly 7,000 acres of former Camp Croft. The trail surface includes roots, rocks, and sustained climbing through South Carolina backcountry, with a central Activity Center serving as base camp and the main checkpoint and aid station. Runners report to the Activity Center each loop.
Distances:
- 50K two full figure-eight loops
- 25K one full figure-eight loop
- 8 Miles northern section of the loop
There is one centralized aid station at the start/finish plus an aid station at the trail intersection roughly every 8 miles. Available snacks include pickles, cookies, chips, Fig Newtons, pretzels, and assorted candy; hydration options include water, Coke, and ginger ale. The event is cup-less so participants should bring their own hydration vessel.
Time limits apply: a 10-hour limit for all races and a 4-hour cutoff on the first lap of the 50K. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal; other included items and services noted by the organizer include race bibs, chip timing with live results, a custom race tattoo, event giveaways, a race sticker, a hydration sample, and professional race photos. A post-race gathering at base camp offers music and food, including pancakes and soup. The race participates in the Upstate Giving Series and supports local nonprofits.
