MTC Blue Caps - Ultra Running

The MTC Blue Caps is a single day ultra running event held as Day 4 of the MTC Albion end to end challenge. The route runs from Premier Inn Wigan North to The Swan at Tarporley and follows the same line used in the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. The race distance is listed at around 36 miles.

Entry is limited to 20 competitors, with an additional allowance of 20 places for Albion multi day entrants for a maximum field of 40. All entrants must meet the organiser’s age requirement and agree to the event terms and conditions. All deposits and entry fees are non refundable; entrants can opt to add a personal cancellation insurance policy at checkout.

The organiser provides maps and GPX files to entrants approximately four weeks before the event and supplies each competitor with a tracking device that includes an SOS function. The race enforces preset cut offs based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors falling below this minimum may be withdrawn.

Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. The event is cup free so competitors must carry a reusable cup. Finishers receive a Blue Caps medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
