MTC Blue Caps
The MTC Blue Caps is a single-day ultra run that follows the same route as the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. The route runs from Premier Inn Wigan North to The Swan at Tarporley and covers approximately 35.5 miles.
The event is Day 4 of the MTC ALBION thirteen day end to end of England and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 regular entries with an additional allowance of 20 for ALBION competitors, creating a maximum field of 40.
Predefined cut-off points and an overall minimum average speed requirement of 4 mph apply; competitors who fall below this standard may be withdrawn. Check-points provide food such as malt loaf, sandwiches, cakes and drinks, and competitors must bring a reuseable cup because the race is cup-free.
Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and are emailed about four weeks before the event. The organisers issue tracking devices with SOS capability so individual progress can be monitored in real time. Entry fees are non-refundable; an optional personal cancellation insurance is offered at checkout. Finishers receive a Blue Caps medal and male and female champions receive trophies.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid supplies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
