MTC Blue Caps

The MTC Blue Caps is a single-day ultra run introduced for 2029 and promoted as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The event is listed at approximately 36 miles and follows the same route as the organiser’s MTC JOGLE event, with reduced daily distances. The advertised course runs from Premier Inn Wigan North to The Swan at Tarporley and is also staged as Day 4 of the thirteen-day MTC ALBION series; ALBION competitors may be on course alongside Blue Caps entrants.

Participant numbers are limited to 20 regular entries with an additional allowance of 20 ALBION competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. The race enforces a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below the 4 mph criterion may be withdrawn. Preset cut-off points are applied along the route based on that minimum average.

Maps and GPX files are provided by the organiser to entrants only, typically issued four weeks before the event. Each competitor will be issued a tracking device with real-time tracking and an SOS function. The event is cup-free; competitors must provide a reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food pack and a basic first aid kit. Finishers receive a Blue Caps medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies which are currently in design. Entry options and fees are published and all payments are non-refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is available at checkout. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
