The Three Counties Trot
Billinge Running Club stages a weekend of events in Billinge on 6 and 7 November 2026 that includes a five mile trail race and a Friday evening Smart Nav navigation event. The trail race covers 5 miles and starts at Janet Lalley Field. The course is fully marked and marshalled and crosses the counties of Greater Manchester, West Lancashire and Merseyside.
The route uses woodland trails, grass tracks and quiet country lanes, with several climbs including a notable ascent at Sheep Hill. Runners should expect a mix of ups and downs, some fast runnable sections and areas of mud and uneven ground. Marshals are positioned at key points along the route.
Registration is online preferred with limited entry on the day and registration available at the Smart Nav event on Friday evening and on race morning. Entry options include the Friday Smart Nav event, the Saturday Three Counties Trot course, or both days. The minimum age to take part is 18 or older.
Smart Nav is a timed navigation run that uses a map of local controls and GPS punching with MapRun. There is no set route and participants choose which controls to visit within the time limit. Post race refreshments and awards are provided at the Delph Tavern. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
