Mere Sands Mile
Mere Sands Mile is an inclusive Canicross event at Mere Sands Wood on 1 November 2026, organised by Sporting Paws. The event welcomes runners, walkers and their dogs on mostly flat, natural woodland tracks and trails that run through the nature reserve. The course is described as scenic and suitable for a range of abilities.
The main event is a timed 1 mile run or walk. After this there is an optional 2.5 km social run around the reserve. The event is timed rather than run as a competition, and no medals will be awarded.
Facilities at the nature reserve include an on-site café and visitor centre, toilets and parking. The reserve address is Holmeswood Road, Rufford, Ormskirk, Lancashire L40 1TG, England.
Entries open on 6 March 2026 and close on 20 October 2026. The entry fee for the 1 mile event is £7.50.
