Manchester - Friday Frolic
This timed event takes place at Hardy Farm in Manchester on an out-and-back course along the River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park. The course is an off road riverside towpath with very little elevation change, and participants complete repeated laps of a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) loop. There is a seven hour time limit and the minimum recorded distance is one lap.
A special Lucky Dip offers a selection of classic Phoenix medals from past years: participants pick a number and receive the corresponding mystery medal with no exchanges and no peeking. The chosen charity for the event is T1 Diabetes Research.
Support on course includes a well stocked vegetarian aid station available all day, with many vegan and gluten free options. The organiser asks anyone with severe or life threatening allergies to bring their own food because cross contamination cannot be guaranteed. Toilets and changing rooms are available at Race HQ.
A mandatory race brief is issued one week before the event. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come, first served basis, with additional parking for up to 100 cars across the river at Sale Water Park (about a 15 minute walk) and other public paid parking nearby.
