Kings Traverse Ultra
The Kings Traverse Ultra is a point-to-point trail race held on April 24, 2027. The course covers 50K (about 31 miles) from Crowders Mountain State Park in North Carolina to Kings Mountain State Park in South Carolina. The route uses single and double track trails, fire road, and portions of gravel road, and it will be marked with ribbon and arrows.
Aid stations supply basic trail-race fuel such as pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit, bacon, water, Tailwind, and a variety of sodas. First-aid supplies are available at aid stations. The race has an 11-hour cutoff, which corresponds to an average of roughly 21 minutes 30 seconds per mile including aid-station stops.
Trekking poles are permitted. Runners must wear their bib on the front and keep it visible throughout the race. Finishers receive a finisher medal, and awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers.
Logistics note: there is no race-day parking at Crowders Mountain State Park Linwood Access; runners must park at Kings Mountain State Park and use the shuttle or arrange drop-off at Linwood Access. Shuttle rides to the start are offered for a fee of $25. Entry fee is listed at $110. This is a private event for registered participants only; pacers are not allowed.
Packet pickup is available on Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24 at the finish and start areas. Entry fees are non-refundable if the event is cancelled; entries do not roll over to the following year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
