Highball to Thurmond Ultra & Relay : May 16, 2027

This is a point-to-point trail event in New River Gorge National Park that finishes in historic Thurmond, West Virginia. The course uses singletrack, rocky climbs, mountain dirt roads, and a section of paved road. The event offers on-course aid stations on some distances and logistics that include boarding an Amtrak train back from Thurmond.

  • 50K - daylight point-to-point ultra

The 50 Mile course mixes about 12 miles of paved road with mountain dirt roads and rugged trails, and includes roughly 6,000 feet of elevation gain and a published overall time limit of 14 hours. The 50K course includes about 3,100 feet of elevation gain, marked trails, and multiple aid stations.

Relay teams may consist of two, three, or four members and use five relay handoff points. Teams can assign legs in any order, and each team member must run at least one leg. Additional participation options listed for the event include ruck entries, pacers, and virtual 50 Mile and 50K entries.
