Fat Ass Trail Run : Batawa Ski Hill

The Fat Ass Trail Run began in 2003 with 23 participants on the Batawa trails and has grown while maintaining an inclusive atmosphere. The event takes place at Batawa Ski Hill, Ski Club Lane, Batawa, Ontario, on November 15, 2026.

Distances offered include:

  • 50 km
  • Bad Ass 6 Hour
  • 24.5 km
  • 16.5 km
  • 10 km
  • 7.5 km
  • 5 km
  • Big Bum Kids 1 km

The course features rocks, roots, wide trails, single track, wooden bridges, creek crossings, hills and meadows. Conditions vary with weather; the use of headphones is discouraged or should be kept at low volume so runners can hear passing requests.

There are three aid stations located across the loops, stocked with water, Tailwind and assorted snacks. The event is cupless; participants should bring a flask, speed cup or hydration bladder. Porta potties are available at the start/finish area. First aid is provided on site.

Rules for the 50 km include a strict cutoff and equipment requirements for late-running portions; pacers are allowed only on the final loop and poles are permitted. Participant medals are not issued to all finishers; medals are awarded to first through third place male and female for each distance, and Big Bum kids receive participant ribbons.

No refunds are offered. Transfers between participants are allowed until October 31. Fat Ass shirts and Bad Ass swag must be pre-ordered by October 25. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
