About the race
The Fat Ass Trail Run takes place on November 15, 2026 at Batawa Ski Hill in Batawa, Quinte West, Ontario, Canada. The event began in 2003 with 23 participants and has grown while keeping an inclusive atmosphere for runners and walkers of different paces and ages.
The event offers various distances and staggered starts, including:
- 50 km
- Bad Ass 6 Hour
- 24.5 km
- 16.5 km
- 10 km
- 7.5 km
- 5 km
- Big Bum Kids 1 km
Course terrain includes rocks, roots, wide trails, single track, wooden bridges, creek crossings, hills and meadows, with variable conditions such as mud or snow. Race rules for the 50 km include a hard cutoff later in the day, a requirement to carry a headlamp for use after daylight, allowance of pacers on the last loop only, and permission to use poles.
There are three aid stations stocked with water, Tailwind, and snacks. The event is cupless so participants must bring their own flasks, speed cups, or hydration bladders. First aid is provided by Stat Med Canada. Porta potties are available at the start and finish area.
Parking is available at Batawa Ski Hill with overflow at the Batawa Community Centre. All participants receive a sustainable handmade medal and top three male and female finishers in each distance receive medals. Big Bum participants receive participant medals. No refunds are offered; transfers between individuals are allowed until October 31 at the participants own expense. Fat Ass shirts and Bad Ass swag require pre-order by October 25.
