Fat Ass Trail Run
The Fat Ass Trail Run takes place at Batawa Ski Hill in Batawa, Ontario on November 15, 2026. The event began in 2003 with 23 participants and has grown over the years; the organizer maintains an inclusive atmosphere for participants of varying ages and paces.
Distances offered include:
- 50 km five laps of the north loop, approximately 10 km each
- Bad Ass 6 Hour timed event on a roughly 7.5 km loop
- 24.5 km combination of south and north loops
- 16.5 km south loop then north loop
- 10 km north loop only
- 7.5 km south loop
- 5 km south loop
- Big Bum Kids 1 km kids race
The course mixes rocks, roots, wide trails, single track, wooden bridges, creek crossings, hills and meadows and can present variable conditions including snow or mud. Participants are asked to avoid headphones or keep volume low to allow safe passing.
There are three aid stations stocked with water, Tailwind, and snacks. The event is cupless; participants should bring a flask, speed cup, or hydration bladder. First aid is provided by a professional medical service. Porta potties are located at the start and finish area. Parking is available at Batawa Ski Hill with overflow at the Batawa Community Centre; participants are asked not to block residential driveways.
All participants receive a sustainable handmade medal. Medals are also awarded to first, second and third place male and female in each distance. Fat Ass shirts require pre-order by October 20, 2026. No refunds are offered; transfers between individuals are allowed until October 31, 2026 at the registrants' expense. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
