Chester Round The Walls Race 2026
The Chester Round The Walls Race is a Boxing Day road race organised by West Cheshire Athletic Club. The event starts and finishes at Chester Racecourse (the Roodee) and follows a lap of the racecourse before joining the riverside path and then a full lap of the historic city walls. The course runs anticlockwise past the Eastgate clock and returns to the Racecourse via the steps from Nuns Road, finishing on the grass in the centre of the Roodee. The route is approximately 6 km in length.
The race has been held since 1972. Minimum age for entry is 16 on the day of the race. Entry fees are stated as £22.00 for unattached runners and £20.00 for UKA affiliated runners, with a £2 discount applied at checkout for affiliated entries. Transfers are permitted until 09:00 on 26 December 2026.
Prizes are awarded to the first five women and men overall, plus first in several age categories including U/20 and multiple masters age groups from O/40 through O/70. All finishers receive a commemorative item.
The organisers reserve the right to amend or cancel aspects of the event and will take guidance from relevant government agencies and the national governing body when assessing local conditions.
