Location, course and format

The ZZ TROT takes place on January 24, 2026, at Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Site, 414 Texas 92 Spur, La Grange, TX. The park sits above the Colorado River and combines wider pathways, grass areas, rocky single-track and double-track, and a section of stone stairs near the old brewery. The 5K route includes a short loop with a stair climb to the historic homestead then follows an outer trail loop. The 5K has about 500 ft of total gain and loss; the outer loop averages about 250 ft of gain or loss per mile.

Organizers use a wave and time trial format to manage flow on narrow singletrack. The 1-mile loops are run as individual time trials, with separate records for the counter-clockwise and clockwise directions. Results are provided for each event and as an aggregated time for the Tres Hombres Challenge. Divisions include run/walk and ruck. Race entry items include a bib, shirt for some events, a finishers medal, a novelty beard or sunglasses, temporary tattoo or sticker, park entry, and live ZZ Top cover band music. Guest tickets are required for adults for parking and park entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
