Yellowbrick Backyard Ultra

Yellowbrick Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra held at Kinsey Park in Peoria, Illinois. The loop is a 4.16 mile single-track trail with no roads or water crossings. The park has a Wizard of Oz theme and local wildlife may be visible along the route.

The event uses a last runner standing format. A new loop starts each hour and runners who are not back at the start line on the hour are eliminated. Each loop begins precisely one hour after the previous loop. There will be a five minute and a one minute warning before each start. Except for restroom breaks, runners may not leave the course during a loop. Pacers are not allowed. Runners who drop must notify the race staff before returning to their vehicle.

Packet pickup is scheduled the evening before and on the morning of the event at the start/finish area. All participants receive a T shirt, sticker and participant award. There is an award and prize for the overall winner, and additional recognition for runners who reach 50k, 50 miles and 100 miles. The aid station will offer a variety of snacks and warm foods plus water, Gatorade and soda.

The loop features small rolling hills with approximately 70 feet of elevation gain per mile. Dogs are welcome at the start area on leash. Camping in the park is not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
