The WRNL Wimborne Christmas Run takes place on Monday 15th December. The event is number 8 in the Wessex Region Night League 2025/26. Entry fees are: Senior £7.00 (chip hire £1.00) and Junior/Student £3.00 (chip hire £0.00). Juniors are defined as under 21 on race day. Entries after 8th December are subject to map availability. Some parking is available at the Family Hub and there is additional parking in the surrounding area.

Course, timing and safety

The event is a 60 minute score course on mainly urban terrain. The course has 26 controls worth 500 points in total. Controls and values are printed on the map; loose control descriptions will be available at the start. There is a penalty of 10 points for each minute or part minute over the hour. Bonus points of 10 per minute under the hour are available only if every control has been visited. Maps are 1:5,000 on A3 waterproof paper with 2.5 m contours. SIAC enabled controls are used and competitors must punch the Start and Finish controls.

All competitors must wear hi-viz tops, carry sufficient lights with a spare, and carry a whistle. Juniors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult over 18. Dogs are not allowed on the course or in the Family Hub. Toilets are available; first aid is limited. Mince pies and tea/coffee will be available after the event. Night orienteering in Brockenhurst: a 60 minute score event in the New Forest. Visit as many controls as you can for points using SIAC timing and waterproof maps, and bring high visibility clothing and lights for after dark navigation.
