Event Overview
The Wolverine State 100 takes place over two days in October. The event crosses Michigan's Lower Peninsula from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron.
Distances
The offered events include:
- 100 Mile: A point-to-point journey from Petoskey to Alpena.
- 100 Kilometer: A point-to-point race starting at Tomahawk Lake Campground and finishing in Alpena.
- 50 Kilometer: An out-and-back course starting from Alpena.
- 100 Mile Relay: A team relay option for the 100-mile distance.
- Virtual 100 Mile, Virtual 100 K, and Virtual 50K.
Course Details
Participants will encounter a variety of terrains including single-track trails, gravel roads, limestone paths, and seasonal roads. The surfaces can include packed dirt, sand, grass, and pavement. The trail sections are described as technical, with roots, rocks, and leaves.
Aid stations are placed every 5 to 8 miles along the courses. Finishers receive custom awards, with special recognition for those who complete the 100-mile race in under 24 hours.
Additional Information
An official pre-race packet pickup occurs on the day before the race at a host hotel in Alpena. Shuttle services are provided for runners from the finish line area in Alpena to the start lines in Petoskey (for the 100 Mile) and Onaway (for the 100K).
