The event takes place at Mt. McSauba in Charlevoix, Michigan, and features a main 6K trail race and a short kids fun run. The 6K course begins with an ascent on the ski hill, then descends and winds through North Pointe woods for the first two miles. Runners return past the ski lodge, pass a water station, and follow single-track trails near the ice rink before climbing the back side trails. The final mile drops back through North Pointe woods to the finish at the lodge.
Terrain includes steep sections, single track and two-track trails, roots, grass, dirt, and some sand. The race is professionally timed. Top overall and masters finishers receive a pair of ALTRA trail shoes as awards.
Registrations for the 6K carry a fee of $35.00; the kids run fee is $12.00. The 6K entry includes a loon T-shirt; the shirt design is by the same artist as Charlevoix Running Company’s logo. Kids receive shirts for the fun run.
Packet pickup is available at Charlevoix Running Company (327 Bridge St) on the Friday before the event and onsite before the race. Parking is in the Mt. McSauba ski hill lot and restrooms are available. Proceeds support the Little Traverse Conservancy for loon protection signage and Mt. McSauba’s outdoor education infrastructure.
