Lope for Loons Trail Run

Lope for Loons takes place on August 8, 2026, at Mt McSauba near Charlevoix, Michigan. The event center is the Mt McSauba ski lodge and the course moves through North Pointe woods and surrounding single track trails.

The main race is a six kilometer trail course. The route climbs the ski hill at the start, then descends and loops through wooded single track and two track trails. Terrain includes steep sections, roots, grass and a small amount of sand. The final mile returns through North Pointe woods to the lodge. There is a water station on course and an aid station near the lodge. The six kilometer race is professionally timed.

Participant items and finish amenities include event shirts for registrants, shirts for kids in the fun run, loon cookies, bananas and snacks at the finish. Top overall and masters finishers receive a pair of ALTRA trail shoes.

Proceeds support the Little Traverse Conservancy for updated signage to protect loons at boat launches and help Mt McSauba maintain outdoor education infrastructure. Packet pickup is handled through Charlevoix Running Company and at the event site. Parking is available in the Mt McSauba ski hill parking lot and restrooms are provided.
