Wildcat Ultras is a loop-format ultramarathon held at the Escambia County Equestrian Center, a 178-acre park with wide runnable paths and open space for crews and spectators. The event is USA Track and Field sanctioned and insured (Event License ID: #161780).
Distances include:
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 15 Miler
The course is a repeatable 2.5-mile loop of mostly grass and hard-packed dirt with gentle rollers and no technical sections. The loop layout provides frequent access to gear and crew, regular volunteer check-ins, and consistent lap visibility. The loop has hosted regional cross country and championship events and features clear markings and nontechnical footing.
Logistics note that the Florida Panhandle typically has hot, humid weather in early September and runners should plan accordingly. The venue offers RV parking with hookups for a fee of $30 per night, which includes tax, water, and electrical service; charging into a wall outlet at the facility also incurs an RV fee. Showers are available on-site.
Timing is chip based with live runner tracking and results online. Pacers are allowed after the halfway point of each distance or at sunset, whichever is earlier. The aid station at the loop concession stand is fully stocked with drinks, electrolytes, fruit, sandwiches, noodles, snacks, vegetable broth, coffee, ice for runners, and other items; runners are advised to carry any essential personal items. Packet pick-up occurs the day before the race and on race morning. Race day registration is available for an additional fee. Finishers receive specified awards by distance and overall winners receive mailed awards with finishing time and course record information if applicable.
