Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run - Shotley Bridge, County Durham

The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run is scheduled for 18 October 2026 at Shotley Bridge, near Consett, County Durham. This edition is presented as the final running of this event format in October 2026.

The routes are designed to pass moorland ridges, woodland trails and four reservoirs, with sections on footpaths, waymarked trails and some road. The 53 km course includes Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way, reservoir sections and paths through Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods.

Distances

  • 25 km Trail: follows Ultra route to Rowley Station then descends to Allensford.
  • 53 km Ultra: circular route via Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way, passes four reservoirs.

Support and safety details include three feed stations on the 53 km course and one on the 25 km, stocked with VOOM Nutrition Pocket Rockets, VOOM Hydration and a range of snacks. The 53 km entry requires a backpack with fluids, a charged mobile phone with ICE contacts saved, food or gels, a lightweight jacket and a headtorch. The 53 km race must be completed within 9.5 hours of daylight. Live chip timing will be used.
