The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run takes place on Sunday 18 October 2026 in Shotley Bridge, County Durham. The event is a trail running race organised by Wild Deer Events. The route area includes moorland ridges, wooded gorges, footpaths and four reservoirs, and it follows sections such as the Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way.

Routes and race details

  • 25 km Trail Run : follows the ultra route until Rowley Station, descends beside the A68 to Allensford Park, then rejoins through Ebchester, Hamsterley and the Derwent Walk.
  • 53 km Ultra Trail Run : circular route via Derwent Walk, Waskerley Way, Waskerley/Smiddy Shaw/Hisehope Reservoirs, Muggleswick road section, Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods, returning via Ebchester and Hamsterley.

There are 3 feed stations on the 53 km and 1 feed station on the 25 km. Stations are stocked with VOOM Nutrition Pocket Rockets, VOOM Hydration and a range of sweet and savoury snacks. Live chip-timing is provided by Timing Up North. For safety, 53 km runners must carry a backpack with fluids, a charged mobile phone with ICE contacts saved, food/gels, a lightweight jacket and a headtorch. The 53 km must be completed within 9.5 hours of daylight. Finishers receive an event medal, a long-sleeved event top, and a drink and snack.
