The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run takes place on Sunday 18 October 2026 in Shotley Bridge, County Durham. The event offers two distances and a circular course for the longer option. Registration opens 30 November 2025 and closes 14 October 2026. Free car parking is provided at Shotley Bridge Hospital and Surgery.

The 25 km route follows the Ultra until Rowley Station, descends beside the A68 to Allensford Park, then rejoins the Ultra through Ebchester, Hamsterley and the Derwent Walk. The 53 km route uses the Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way, passes Waskerley, Smiddy Shaw and Hisehope reservoirs, includes a road section through Muggleswick with views over Derwent Reservoir, and follows footpaths in Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods before returning via Ebchester and Hamsterley.

Logistics and safety

The 53 km event has three feed stations; the 25 km has one. Stations are stocked with VOOM Nutrition Pocket Rockets, VOOM Hydration and a range of sweet and savoury snacks. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. Mandatory kit includes a backpack with fluids, charged mobile phone with ICE contacts, food/gels, lightweight jacket and a headtorch (required if finishing after 5pm). The 53 km must be completed within 9.5 hours of daylight. All finishers receive an event medal, a long-sleeved event top and a drink and snack.
