Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run - Shotley Bridge, County Durham

The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run takes place on 18 October 2026 in Shotley Bridge, County Durham. The event uses routes that pass moorland ridges, woodland gorges, footpaths and reservoir shorelines to showcase a variety of local terrain.

Distances

  • 53 km - circular route via Derwent Walk, Waskerley Way and the four reservoirs

The 25 km route rejoins the Ultra line through Ebchester, Hamsterley and the Derwent Walk. The 53 km course passes Waskerley, Smiddy Shaw and Hisehope Reservoirs, includes a road section through Muggleswick with views over Derwent Reservoir, and uses footpaths in Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods before returning via Ebchester and Hamsterley.

Mandatory kit for 53 km runners includes a backpack with fluids, a charged mobile phone with ICE contacts, food or gels, a lightweight jacket and a headtorch.
