Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run, Shotley Bridge, County Durham

The Four Reservoirs Ultra Trail Run takes place on Sunday 18 October 2026, with Shotley Bridge near Consett as the event location. The route is designed to pass moorland ridges, woodland gorges and four reservoirs, using public footpaths and sections of the Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way.

  • 53km Ultra Trail Run circular route from Shotley Bridge via Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way

The 53km route includes Waskerley, Smiddy Shaw and Hisehope Reservoirs, a road section through Muggleswick with views over Derwent Reservoir, and footpaths through Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods. Route maps are provided for both distances.

Feed stations and provisions are listed for each distance: three feed stations on the 53km and one on the 25km. Stations are stocked with VOOM Nutrition Pocket Rockets, VOOM Hydration and a range of sweet and savoury snacks.

For safety, all 53km runners must carry a backpack with fluids, a charged mobile phone with ICE contacts, food or gels, a lightweight jacket, and a headtorch if finishing after 5pm. The 53km must be completed within 9.5 hours of daylight. Live chip timing is used.
