Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Trail Half Marathon & 5 Mile
The Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Trail race takes place each January at Northeast Park in Gibsonville, North Carolina. The event offers multiple on-course formats and is held on trails that can present widely varying winter conditions, including warm dry days, cold slippery trails, and times when a river becomes difficult to cross.
Distances and options include:
- 13.1 Miles Half Marathon with two Reedy Fork River crossings.
- 5 Miles trail run with an optional ruck division.
- Virtual 13.1 Miles and Virtual 5 Miles options for remote completion.
Ruck participants hike with a weighted rucksack or weight plate carrier and are weighed before the event. Ruckers under 150 lbs must carry 20 lbs; ruckers over 150 lbs must carry 30 lbs. An early-start half marathon category is offered for a limited number of participants who need extra time to meet course cutoffs; participants in that category accept that some aid stations may be unmanned when they arrive.
Event services include chip timing, live results, on-course support, and post-race food and beer. Finish-line items listed by the organizer include a race hoodie, a finisher medal, a WTF bumper sticker, and occasional prizes and giveaways. Registration offers a standard package and reduced-economy packages that omit some swag items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
