Westcountry Ultra Hilly 50 miles takes place on Saturday 9 May 2026. The route has total elevation gain of 7,337 ft. Entry fee is £60. The race starts and finishes at West Somerset College, Bircham Road, Minehead, TA24 6AY. Runners must be 18 or over on the day. Cut-off time is 16 hours. Pacers are not allowed. Support crews and spectators are permitted but must respect local parking and residents. Finishers receive a medal and trophies are awarded to the first male and first female finishers.

Course, aid and safety

The route is partly out-and-back with an additional one-way loop. Terrain includes ancient woodland, coastal sections, marshes, lanes, and moorland; the route passes Culbone, which contains the UK’s smallest parish church. There are six aid stations; this is a cupless race so runners should carry at least one 500 ml water bottle and a cup if needed. Aid stations provide water, coke, squash and a range of food items. Approximate distances to aid stations from the start are: CP1 Bossington - 8 miles; CP2 Porlock Weir - 11 miles; CP3 Webber’s Post - 22 miles; CP4 Webber’s Post - 28 miles; CP5 Porlock Weir - 39 miles; CP6 Bossington - 42 miles.

Course markings are provided where needed and the South-West Coast Path has its own signage. Organisers will supply a GPX file. Professional medical cover is provided; emergency procedures are outlined in the race information. Suggested personal kit includes a tested waterproof jacket, spare layer, headtorch with spare batteries, high-visibility clothing, whistle, compass, charged mobile phone, emergency food, foil survival blanket and basic first aid items.
