Watchet Mariner 10k

The event is a scenic multi surface race of approximately 10 km in West Somerset, starting and finishing on The Esplanade at Watchet. The route passes through the town centre, follows the firm flat surface of the disused Old Mineral Line alongside the West Somerset Steam Railway to Washford, includes a 2 km out and back on the Steam Coast Trail cycle path, then climbs quiet country lanes over Cleeve Hill with wide coastal views before descending back to the harbour and the statue of the Ancient Mariner.

The course is open to the public and will be signposted and marshalled at key points. Traffic on the roads will not be closed, so runners must take care around vehicles, pedestrians and dog walkers. Water stations are located at about 2 miles and at the finish, and first aid is available at the Washford water station and at the finish. Wheelchairs are not suitable for this course. Headphones including bone conducting types are not permitted.

The race has a permit ARC/27/0094 and a maximum of 200 entries. All proceeds are donated to the Watchet Conservation Society. Free t shirts are offered to entries made before 14 February while stocks last, and finishers receive medals. Facilities in town include car parks, public toilets, baggage drop and changing at the race HQ. Awards are given to top finishers overall and in specified age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
