West Yorkshire Trail Run at Harewood House
The West Yorkshire Trail Run takes place on the grounds of Harewood House in Leeds, set within more than 100 acres of landscaped parkland and woodland around an 18th-century estate. The event offers multiple off-road distances that use estate trails and surrounding countryside.
- 22k Half Marathon 262m elevation gain
- 13k Trail Run 188m elevation gain
- 8k Trail Run 102m elevation gain
The route follows woodland and parkland tracks, beginning along Wall Side Plantation and climbing gently to Sugar Hill, with views across the estate. The course passes close to the Emmerdale set and runs beside Eccup Reservoir, noted here as the largest body of water in West Yorkshire. Runners return through Carr Plantation and Piper Wood and pass an estate lakeside before the finish.
Terrain includes rolling hills, a mix of woodland paths and open trails, and stretches described as mostly wide, runnable paths with generally good footing on the shorter distances. The event uses chip timing and provides a high-quality metal finisher medal, a finisher goodie and drink, and a personalised certificate. First aid cover, on-course refreshments and water stations are provided and marshals are present. Participants collect bibs on arrival and the event is plastic free, so reusable cups or bottles are requested. Course signage uses pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are marked with caution signs. Spectators are welcome. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
