This is a British Orienteering regional ranking event at West Woods, near Marlborough. Access is by permission of Forestry England. There is a strict limit of 90 vehicles and a £2 charge will be collected from each driver on arrival to encourage car sharing. Entry is online only and entry closes 8 January 2026. There will be no entry on the day. SportIdent timing will be used; controls will be SIAC enabled where possible and hire dibbers will be non-SIAC.

  • Blue 6.9 km 155 m climb - for experienced orienteers
  • Green 5.3 km 125 m climb - for experienced orienteers
  • Short Green 4.0 km 100 m climb - for experienced orienteers
  • Light Green 3.9 km 95 m climb - for orienteers with some experience
  • Orange 3.0 km 75 m climb - suitable for all orienteers
  • Yellow 2.2 km 55 m climb - suitable for beginners
  • White 1.7 km 45 m climb - suitable for beginners

Course lengths and climb are provisional and subject to final controlling.

Logistics, terrain and safety

Assembly is in the public parking area and parking will be along the main forest track; competitors should follow marshal instructions. The start is about 900 m from assembly and the finish is about 200 m from download. The map is 1:10,000, 5 m contours, A3, printed on waterproof paper. Terrain is mainly mature woodland with areas of undergrowth, often bramble. Full leg cover is mandatory and whistles are compulsory. There will be toilets and a first aid tent; there will be no caterer, so participants should bring their own refreshments. Join the Winchester Trail Run at Sparsholt College for scenic 12 km and 21 km off road routes through rolling Farley Mount countryside. Enjoy tree lined tracks, a short climb to Farley Mount on the 21 km and a finisher medal.

Explore Amesbury by torchlight in a lively 60 minute score orienteering event with 24 controls, based at the New Inn. Pre entry is required, so bring lights and hi viz clothing, and juniors under 16 must be accompanied.

Explore marked trails around Stonehenge in a friendly untimed event for walkers and runners, from 5 km to 40 km. Half the proceeds go to Salisbury Hospice and local athletics. Places are limited and it is cupless so bring your own cup.
